Legendary screenwriter Joe Eszterhas brings his sledgehammer touch to this heartfelt movie about Hungary, the embattled country of his forebears. It is the true story of the Hungarian water polo team at the 1956 Olympic Games; as their country's gallant stand against Soviet tyranny was crushed, the athletes strove to win a poignant moral victory in the pool against the cheating Russians. Eszterhas's Hollywood instincts are brought into play for this rip-roaring yarn, and the film has an innocent, gutsy power.
